Things are on hold until I can get replacement parts from the States. Now that I have a better understanding of how saltwater affects things I believe I can get the ROV to working well enough to have some fun.
I am still having problems with losing power in the saltwater. Everything works good in the beginning. After a few minutes in the saltwater the motors stop working. When I pulled it up I checked the voltage to a motor and there was very little if any. After a few minutes on land the voltage started coming back until the motor was a full strength. Weird. I just don't know enough to know what is happening.
I put the ROV in the water yesterday. Everything was working and looking good. But for some reason I was not getting any thrust from the props. I thought maybe the motors were not working but when I put the ROV back on the boat everything worked. So for now the ROV looks good but is a dud since it won't go anywhere.
I went to the States early and came back with a bunch of stuff. I still have some things that I need to get but at least the frame looks like a ROV. The main thing left is the wiring.
I am ready to start building my ROV but I can't. I am an expad living in Venezuela and you can't buy much of anything here. Certainly nothing like what I need. At the end of October I am going to the States at which time I will load up. I just hope I can bring back everything I need.
